Dan Greear, candidate for Attorney GeneralDan Greear is a lifelong resident of South Charleston. He participated in the Black Eagle football and baseball programs and graduated in 1986 4th in his class of over 200. He also graduated as a National Merit Scholar.

After graduating Summa Cum Laude from Liberty University with a BS in Political Science, Dan continued his studies at the WVU College of Law after receiving the prestigious St. George Tucker Brooke Fellowship from that institution. His academic achievements in law school placed Dan on the West Virginia Law Review. His final year of law school he was selected to serve as the Associate Manuscript Editor of that publication. Dan graduated in 1992 3rd in his class which allowed him to become recognized as a member of The Order of the Coif.

Dan’s legal career began with the law firm of Goodwin and Goodwin. He practiced there for two years before moving to the firm of Meyer-Darragh. He continued his work as an attorney with that firm until the end of 1995. On January 1, 1996, Dan helped open the law firm Kesner, Kesner and Bramble. He continues as a partner in that firm actively representing individuals and businesses throughout the state of West Virginia and in federal court.

Dan served in the House of Delegates representing the 30th District in 1995 and 1996. During his term he was particularly active fighting for tax relief for West Virginia citizens and he received a 100% voting record from and the Business and Industry Council. During this time Dan received endorsements from organizations such as West Virginians for Life, the Charleston Chamber of Commerce, and the West Virginia Chamber of Commerce.

Dan married his wife, Amy, in 1992; one week after graduating from law school. They currently have two children, JD (although Amy would tell you his name is Josh), 9, and Ben, 6. Amy currently is employed as a Hospice social worker. The entire family is active at Spring Hill Baptist Church which Dan has attended since nine months before his birth and where Dan serves as a Deacon, Sunday School Teacher and youth leader.
